    Brody's bilateral arthroscopy surgery today

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded to my previous thread, you all helped me prepare for Brody's surgery.

His surgery went very smoothly according to the vet.

I picked him up he was so happy, it's like he couldn't feel anything! I just brought him home and put him in his new home (cage) and he won't stop crying. I took him out of the cage thinking it was the cage that was bothering him, but he's still crying. He's obviously in a lot of pain, right?

I just want to know if your dog did this? How long will he be like this it's heart breaking. Oh and he won't eat. Is this ok?

Glad all went well. So sorry to hear Brody is in discomfort. Don't have any answers, wish I did. Must be heartbreaking to see him in such discomfort. Sending lots of good thoughts to Brody. Hopefully you will get some good advise real soon to help your boy.

Sometimes they aren't in discomfort or pain. When Hudler had his first TPLO he cried and cried, but he was on a lot of pain meds so I was sure it wasn't pain. The second knee, he acted like nothing was wrong. I think sometimes they cry because they are scared and don't know what's wrong.

Dogs coming out of anesthesia will often cry and whine. Hope he feels better soon.

    Glad all went well.

Agree, may be a reaction to the anesthesia. Melody did the same thing after having a simple procedure which should not have caused much pain. In fact, no pain meds were required. Give it a good 24 hours and he should shake off the affects. Keep up with the pain meds as prescribed.

    Sending healing prayers.

I remember some whining, but nothing drastic. is he on pain meds? Chili was so happy to just be home, I am sure it was super scary for him. But he got lots of love. Chili puked a few times off and on over the 1st week after surgery. after the 1st week, chili seemed pretty normal.

the cone seemed liked it bothered chili the most...he hated it! and I wonder if the acoustics on his hearing and the changes involved with wearing that cone were super friightening. chili only wore the cone the 1st week and he chewed out his stitches on one elbow but not the other. Doc said that happens and in chili's case all was ok.

Glad the surgery went well. Niner cried too the first day, but after that he was fine - hope Broady will be too and recovery goes quickly.

Glad all went well. How did he do after the anesthesia wore off? Our Zo is so upset when she's coming out of it.

Glad it went well also, hope Brody is just a bit 'weirded out' by the pain meds. Take care.
