    HylaSport Canine? or Tri-Acta HA?

Integricare Joint Supplements for canines and small animals

    HylaSport Canine

Can anybody help me compare these? I can get the Tri-Acta HA in Canada at Greenhawk stores. Would have to have the Hylasport shipped from the States.

I'm not sure of dosage on the HylaSport and the lady I reached on the phone was pretty vague. What's a large breed? What's a medium breed? She was waffling when I asked for a breakdown by weight. Oban was 78 pounds his last Vet visit in April, probably 75 or 76 now.

What do you give your dog and how much does he/she weigh?

The Tri-Acta HA website isn't much better as it does not give the size of it's scoop. But I received an answer to an email from them and they say it's one gram. One gram? That doesn't seem like much but according to them Oban would need 2 scoops at 75 pounds.

Another quandry: What is the difference between hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate? The latter has a smaller molecular size and can hold about 1,000 times its weight in water. But all I could find on whether that was good or not pertained to topical and injected usage, mostly for skin rejuvenation products. The only thing I found on ingestibles for joint care said neither had been proved to work.

I'm still looking this stuff up but if anyone beat me to it and already knows please chime in. Or any other comments you have, please share.

Minor gripe: If it's hyaluronic acid then why isn't the product called HyaSport? Or HyaluSport?

I started giving Chili some human grade Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM Dietary Supplement from walmart when he was about 60 pounds/6 months old as I suspected a limp. I had gotten this advice from a vet best friend of mine since childhood to give this supplement a try. He said the ratio of 1500/1500/1000 is good for dogs over 70 pounds. long story short...chili had surgery on his elbows and after reading up on the internet I trusted alot of dog breeders who used hylasport. I give Chili 1 tablespoon of hylasport each morning with breakfast and I think it is helping as Chili has been recovering well. I just trusted the companies references and figured it was worth the money after all I have already went thru. no need to save a few bucks for me in this case. I will be ordering more.

That's what I did too. I swear, when we forgot to give Jet her dose I could see the difference. But it doesn't seem to be helping Oban.

I'm going with the comparison to HylaSport precisely because I have seen many here use it. But if the other is similar and easier to get I'll use it.

I tried the HylaSport with my now 13 yr. golden, Bentely, about a year ago. Once I got up to a full dosage, he didn't seem to handle it well gut-wise. I wondered if it might be the strong flaxseed base in the HylaSport. If you can get the Tri-Acta HA easily, I think I'd try that first. From looking at their website I couldn't find anywhere listing the inactive ingredients.

As you say, sodium hyaluronate is the salt of hyaluronic acid and has a smaller molecular structure. I doubt that one versus the other would change the effectiveness of the product.

I now have Bentley on Glyco-Flex II which really seems to be helping him.

All I know is that the big Hylasport scoop has the exact ratio of what I want for the dogs. When Maddy was alive (she was 70#), I gave her the same dosage as Hudler who's 95#.

According to the HylaSport website the big scoop slightly rounded is about 10 grams. Do you mean you gave each of them one scoop?

Yes, they each got one of the big scoops every day.
