    Dog Park Puppy Warts!

Well, we've just returned from Ellie's dermatology appointment (the itchies continue unabated), where it was discovered that she has a fat wart on the upper gum in her mouth! Apparently, your dog can become infected from sharing toys or a water bowl with a dog in the active phase of the virus. This is our first dog we've had who actually likes to be around other dogs, so its a first for us. The vet said we could have it removed or just leave it be. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you have it removed? It doesn't seem to bother her in the slightest, but he said it could grow quite large. Thanks goodness it's not zoonotic because I often let Ellie lick my face! Ewwww.

Yep! Sam had them. I kept an eye on them, they went away, and that was that. I did my best to not let him infect other dogs.

Have not heard of them being passed along that way. With the options you vet gave, I would wait and see if it resolves. If it gets to the point that his teeth are making it bleed, then time to come out.

Were you able to get any help with the itchies?

Cookie had a wart on his back leg. Nothing serious, unless it's bothering him. Eventually it will fall off on its own, just don't be scared they may bleed a lot.

Both my girls had a wart on their lips, same spot which I think they got from ball sharing at the dog park. Went to Vet for diagnosis. No treatment necessary, went away on it's own in a few weeks.

Thanks, everyone! Ellie is getting spayed today and when the vet saw it this morning, he said he wanted to snip it and cauterize it while she was already under (it had already gotten quite a bit larger than the photo I posted on Tuesday). Oral Canine Papilloma Virus. This poor little girl. If it's out there, she's going to get it.

No relief on her intense itching. Her stool is finally perfect on the Primal raw, so the dermatologist hopes we are on the road to knocking down her inflammation (her gut was a mess). I'm not sure. She has two new pea sized, hard nodes under her armpit that are filled with while blood cells (pathology confirms after fine needle biopsy). It could be a flea allergy, it could be she's getting her skin caught on the rose bushes in the garden, it could be she has a wonky immune system or is still sensitive to something in the Primal formula. She coat looks so ratty and if she is not sleeping, the poor thing is scratching and biting. We are at a loss over here, but I am not ready to go down the Prednisone route.

Try Malaseb Shampoo for your lab's itching. I am so sorry for your dog's discomfort. With our chocolate, I had to take her to a dermatologist finally for the itching.
