Aniston, our 14 month old yellow Lab has not experienced her first heat yet. How concerned should we be? With our other girls we've waited until they went through one cycle before spaying them.

I'd contact her breeder to see when her lines normally have their first heat. I'd say as long as she's otherwise normal and healthy, no worries. Personally, I wait until a couple month past the second season to spay.

I agree, contact your breeder and spay 2-3 months after the first or second heat.

My current girl had her first heat when she was 15 months old and she was spayed 3 months later. Her Mom had her first heat later also. Your pup is still in the normal range.

They can actually wait until almost 2 years of age.

While I do believe in waiting to fix a dog until they are fully grown, I don't necessarily believe you have to wait until they have a heat cycle. If you think the dog is fully grown at 15 months and need to have her fixed, you can do it. The only reason to absolutely wait until after a heat cycle is if she has an inverted vulva.

I agree, but that said Chloe was 18 months, almost 19 months when she had her first heat so your girl is still well within normal ranges. Scully if I can remember back that far was about 13-14 months. I don’t know about Jolie as we didn’t have her then.

We had our chocolate lab Rosie spayed at 6 months. Our vet said it would be okay to do before her first heat.
