Rivers was always on a combination of half home cooked/half kibble; just never really did that wonderful no matter what combinations we tried.

I'd say around 3-4yrs of age is when we really started noticing it; then one summer he ended up with 4 different water-bugs all at the same time, from the same pond he went swimming in. From that very day for the 6wks following that, that boy, no matter what *homecooked* or kibble we tried, nothing would stay in from either direction, he was loosing weight, etc.

Finally got up one morning, said what do I have to loose, and fed him nothing but raw ground beef 3 small meals in the first few days, then I started adding cucumber, and over time other vegetables. He gets NO grains, no starches of any kind & digests his food generally within 4-6hrs...the difference after only 3 days was amazing.

Did you know that it actually takes 12-14hrs for kibble to thoroughly digest in the system; meaning his stomach is trying to digest it 24hrs a day.

Did they do an x-ray to rule out a foreign object? Is he known for swallowing things he shouldn't?

To this day, Rivers eats a variety of meats, all raw, he can't even handle cooked meats except Salmon; no grains, no potatoes, and absolutely no kibble. Haven't had a single tummy or energy level issue in a few years; he's healthier now then ever & he LOOKS it too!

Crazy that you posted this so recently... we are having a very similar issue with our almost 2 yr old yellow lab, but it's the opposite--he only throws up in the morning, first thing. And it's sporadically, maybe once a week. Same eating schedule and amount as yours too! After doing some online research, we found something called "empty stomach syndrome" and apparently it's pretty common. He eats a ton of sticks, grass, plants out in the yard all day, has dinner around 6pm and when he goes to bed, that stuff just sits in his stomach so it might be irriating his stomach. With this syndrome, they say to give a small treat or handful of kibble right before bed so he has something else in his system. Some articles also added to throw in a probiotic or give a spoonful of yogurt to help. We started giving him a small handful of kibble right before bed about 2 days ago, and have had no issues so far. If he continues to vomit, we'll throw in a probiotic or some yogurt and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then we'll take him to the vet, get some blood work done and go from there...

Good luck with whatever you try!
