I would give it some time. It has to travel through. Did you give him the really cheap white bread? That stuff is gold when it comes to surrounding the rock and passing it through the system.
we have a gravel driveway and he always puts them in his mouth and never eats them but tonight for some odd reason he dunked his head under his pool and swallowed it, I Guess it slipped down his throat....I called my vet and he said to give him a piece of bread w a tablespoon of Vaseline on it and he ate it and I walked him and he pooped like an hour1/2 after that and it never came up yet?? any suggestions? I am nervous..should I let him sleep w me? He is crated usually and loves it. This sucks the waiting game.....he is sleeping now..Idk he seems perfectly normal though. and when he pooped nothing came out but it was too early you think???????? Thanks in advance

I've never heard of this trick, but I am very glad I know about it now. Please let us know when/if it works.

Might be a little longer before it appears. You are officially on poop watch. Be sure to carry a stick, you might have to poke around.

well He hasn't passed the rock yet and it happened Thursday night, He pooped 2 times a day since and only Once today, It was his Last day for the bread with Vaseline. He is acting perfectly normal, his appetite is perfect, begging lol and nothing out of the norm...what next?????
As long as he's pooping, there is no obstruction. If he stops pooping, and start barfing, go to the vet immediately.

Agree with barry, sometimes things stay in a dog's stomach longer than you would imagine. Since the vet knew about it, you can call to let them know- I don't think you need to take him in as long as he's acting OK. They can tell you if they think anything else needs to be done at this point but it may just be keep an eye on him for any abnormal pooping/vomiting activity.

Thunder had a leash in his stomach for 6 months before he finally threw it up. We never even knew he had swallowed it. He swallowed it when we were on vacation and he was being boarded....that is a long story for a different day! Never acted any differently at all. He also is a sock eater (not anymore because we have taken extreme measures to stop this) and sometimes it was weeks before he would pass a sock.
I am sure the rock will present itself soon. I know exactly how you feel it is so worrisome when you are on poop watch. Hope it passes soon!
