      My Puppy has worms

Hello, I have recently got a new puppy and she is currently 3 months old. Yesterday we gave her her monthly worming tablet (frontal I believe). Today, she had a poo as normal and I noticed a long white thing in her poo. It was about 10 cm and looked like a piece of cooked spaghetti. It was dead, or not moving at least and from looking online it says it is a roundworm. I am just seeking advice about preventing my other dog from getting it also and to see if what I have researched matches with others experiences of roundworm in dogs. Is there anything I can do to help prevent it getting worse? I have given my other dog worming tablets(earlier than scheduled but wanted to take precautions). I will of course be contacting the vet asap but wanted to seek some advice about what I should do with the puppy and my older dog. Thanks

Most puppies have or get worms. They are just more susceptible, and they are sometimes even born with them if the dam is allowed in the real world. You have already wormed her once with the monthly tablet. I would ask my vet for advice on worming her mid month to get rid of them further, then carry on with your monthly tablets. The monthly tablet probably prevented worms in the adult, depending on what it is.

Puppies will get worms, not uncommon at all. They mouth everything on the ground.

As Charlotte said, talk to your vet about a regular worming routine.

Thanks, she has been to the toilet a few times since he discovery and there is nothing in her poop. It seems odd for her to just have 1 worm come out but maybe that's normal? I will be ringing the vet as soon as it opens to ask more. Thanks for the replies

One worm could indicate a very light infestation. She has been wormed in the past, presumably. Does she get Drontal, not Frontal? It is effective.
