      Morning vomiting

My 11month old lab has been dry retching/vomiting yellow bile only in the mornings for about the past month.
Not every morning but often enough. It's not upsetting him as he is happy enough afterwards.
Has any one else experienced this.
I read recently that it could be due to an empty stomach so moved his feeding time to later in the evening, helped for a couple of morning but then again this morning he did the vomit again
Any ideas? Would love to hear some

Feed him a little kibble or a cookie before bed. Sounds like empty tummy syndrome. Don't move his dinner, just give a snack before bed.

It sounds like you're on the right track with the empty tummy- yellow bile is how it's often described. Since a later meal isn't holding him, I'd try a treat or a handful of kibble just before he goes to bed for the night, after his last trip outside. Some people give their dog a spoonful of yogurt at bedtime and find that helps, too. Maybe he's going through a little growth spurt and just needs a little extra.

I had the same issue with Bruce. What ended up working best for him, was to move his feeding time to later in the evening. In addition to the bile vomiting, he was would get very loose poo if I fed him too much at one feeding. So I had to balance how much was going in and when I fed him. Bruce is now almost 18 months old, and I feed him and Sophie 8:30am and 8:30pm.

Since you've been feeding later and still having the issue, I'd definitely try a small snack at bedtime to see if that helps.

Yep, a snack before bedtime usually fixes this quickly. Maxx, (4 y/o), will still vomit bile around 4 AM if I don't give him a snack before bedtime.

Same here, a cookie before bed time just before last time out to potty.

Neither of my two can go as much as 12 hours without food or else I'll get bile barfs. Although I've had that with other dogs in the past, only with Labs and only in the morning, these guys actually require three meals during the day plus two small snacks or else I'll also get vomiting at other times, too.

      So...

Breakfast at about 4:15 a.m., second breakfast between 10 and 11 a.m., single small biscuit at 4 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and another small biscuit at bedtime (whenever my husband decides it's time to call it a night).

Update: must've been a growth spurt. Moving Rockys feeding time later in evening has stopped the morning vomiting
