    Immunotherapy Reactions?

Macy has been on Immunotherapy for her allergies the last six months. She is allergic to pretty much the entire world. She gets an injection a week, alternating allegan vials. It's been going very well. She has improved drastically. I'm really happy with the results. Her coat looks great again and she is again comfortable. Her derm vet is also pleased and surprised at the speed of her improvement.

Last week she got her injection and several hours later began to pace, pant, was restless and hiding in bizarre areas all night long. Vet thinks it could have been a random tummy upset OR a reaction to her Immunotherapy shot because of the timing of her symptoms. We won't really know unless she reacts again which does not thrill me obviously. Anyone ever had this kind of reaction to Immunotherapy?

Vet said she could react even after six months with no issues. I was wondering if anyone had any similar experience.

My first lab Lily was also allergic to the whole world. She was allergic to pretty much every weed, dust, had sensitivities to anything not salmon, allergic to wool, cotton, nickel (which we learned after her fur on her neck fell out from a collar), among other things. She was on antihistamines, a daily steroid, prescription food, medicated shampoo, and monthly immunotherapy injections. She never had a bad reaction, although our dermatology specialist warned it could happen at any time. Are you working with a specialist? When we started seeing the dermatologist, we really got her allergies under control, she had very few breakouts. If you arent seeing a specialist, I would recommend it. It made a world of difference with lily.

Lily and Macy sound similar. We are working a specialist and I'm very happy with the results. I brought Macy in to our regular vet the morning after the possible reaction and he conferenced with our derm vet. They both basically said the same thing in that it may have been a reaction or maybe not. I didn't know she could have a reaction to her Immunotherapy injections at any time. I assumed she was in the clear after six months of weekly injections.

I wonder if it is different with different therapies. Lily was on monthly injections, so my guess a different treatment.
