    Callus on elbow

Sam's elbow is starting to get a callus on it. I can see the fur starting to thin over a slightly reddened thick looking patch of skin. Is it ok to put something like Vaseline or Aquaphor ointment on the spot or is it better to leave it untreated?

You can put something on it but sometimes nothing helps.

Mardi has a good size callus on one elbow, very small on the other. I do put a very thin coat of Vaseline on them to keep the skin soft.

Huckleberry has them on both elbows. I put some vaseline on them for a while and really didn't notice much difference so quit using it.

As you can see from my pic below, Nelli's have finally come in. I never put anything on them.

I don't put anything on them either. They usually appear during the summer months from sleeping on hard surfaces.

Emma has them. I think from laying on her metal pan in her crate. She can't have bedding, she destroys it.

Chili had one when I first got him, it went away after a month...now that he is a house dog, I see it starting to grow back...wonder if its just a lifestyle thing or genetic thing. chili sleeps in a padded crate but also loves to lounge on the tile floors...hmmmm

yep, Bailey had one bald little elbow spot. She's 3 now but I noticed it starting to develop when she was about 2. Bella doesn't have one. yet. \

i don't put anything on it either. I doubt it would help much and it she'd either try to lick it off, or it'd rub off on the carpet, floor, dog bed.

Charlie and Niner interestingly enough do not have these, but my first yellow lab had one on each elbow. Same house. I do think my yellow boy laid on the cement more than dumb and dumber do.
