    APOQUEL (To treat Atopic Dermatitis)

Does anybody have any experience with this drug (APOQUEL) to
    treat Atopic Dermatitis?..

We have had allergy tesing done...Changed foods..Baths...You name it..

He (3 yrs old) was diagonsed with AD a year or so ago. We refused to consider any kind
    of steroid medication.

The itching has gotten so much worse that we feel we need to try medication.

We used Atopica, which has been around a bit longer. It was a Godsend. In my readings both Atopica and Apoquel are considered to be a lesser evil than Prednisone. Now we are using TCM.

What did the allergy testing reveal? Curious, was it blood draw, skin scrapings, mini innoculations? A neighbours dog went through that, scrapings I believe, when it turned out she was intolerant of Atopica. Now she is on allergy injections.

I used Apoquel with tremendous success. We went down the same route with baths, food testing and then skin testing. Found out she is allergic to practically everything so she now receives an allergen injection once every ten days. She started the injections at every week last spring. She continued on Apoquel as needed with the goal to get her off the Apoquel when able. She hasn't had an Apoquel since July. Apoquel isn't a long term solution from what I understand.
When Macy started on Apoquel she had almost instant relief. I saw no side effects except that Macy got her personality back because she didn't have to itch.

We ended up with allergy shots, I think that or one of the new drugs such as the one you describe have very good results. Just make sure any infections are cleared up from the scratch itch cycle.

We were finally able to get a prescription from our vet last month. It was in short supply. It was amazing!
He couldn't walk 3 steps without having to stop and itch. His paws were also being chewed. This started working in just a few hours. He is so much better,
