My goodness! May I ask...what part of the country do you live?

Please, please...get the puppy to a Vet...they will work with you regarding the bill.

This puppy needs a complete check-up.

Honestly, the puppy needs to be re-homed or returned to the breeder.

Where did your sister get the dog?

    Poor puppy.

Absolutely agree. This person has a fairly easy to trace internet history, and a bit of a reputation for trolling and attention seeking.

So, I am hoping that this is a case of that. And not only would I never want to meet this person in person—I assure you they would never want to meet me.

michellemabelle, if you called that number, that was good. But it should have been done immediately after you suspected their was an ingestion. With this type of poison, time is critical.
Now get you Coconut inside, and pick up all the poison baits you can find. The mice won't hurt you, but that damn stuff certainly will.
If you go to the Tomcat "Contact Us" link you will see a "chat live" button. That's how I got a hold of them and when I asked how much poison it contained, etc. they told me to call their poison hotline. When you call option number 2 is for pet poison control or whatever theirs is called. I told the lady what had happened. That I wasn't sure if he consumed it or not. She asked me my name, number, zip code, how many pounds my dog weighs, which of the rat baits he got a hold of,etc. She made several calculations for me and told me that if he had consumed a deadly dose that he would have gotten bad within an hour and that if it's been two days that he should be fine. She did advise me to call the vet which I did and they told me to call the animal emergency clinic which I also did and they told me the same thing the poison control lady told me.

Oh well. I continue to be incredulous. I suppose that it is in my nature. I certainly hope no dogs were in fact injured.
Again, I'll post again what I just commented:

Time to step up for Coconut's sake. This dog needs a new home. He tears everything up because he has not been taught not to. He can learn. Find a good Labrador retriever rescue or all dog rescue and place him, deal with your sister later. We're talking about his life here. Your sister may be mad as heck but Coconut will be in better hands and live a better life.

    Enough said.
I agree with you. I need to have a serious talk with my sister. She's actually getting back real soon and I'm going to just BEG her to please think about Coconut's future because if she can't take of him then he needs a better home.

    Poor poor Coconut.
I'm not trying to make excuses up. I came here because I literally had no idea what to do with Coconut and I was hoping to get advise for someone without money on what to do! I didn't expect such hurtful retaliation against me. I just wanted to protect Coconut from the harsh winter because I didn't have the money to buy him an insulated dog house! I begged my mother to help me buy one and she doesn't have enough money to spend on the dog either so my last resort was to take him into our garage to protect him from the harsh winter! I had no idea there was rat bait around that my father had left!

This substance is absolutely not poisonous but very effective on mice and rats only. Tomcat is a poison and should be contained in their locked bait traps, not left out for general consumption.

All good thoughts for your Coconut.
Thank you so much for that advise. I'll keep that in mind whenever we have a pest problem. You seem to be the only one to give me any advise, so thank you.

I'm sorry I have upset you but I am not a troll. I came here seeking advise and just got attacked instead. I'll upload pictures of Coconut later so you guys can see him.

Oh, I am not upset at all. It takes more than someone making things up on the internet to upset me.

    Also:

She made several calculations for me and told me that if he had consumed a deadly dose that he would have gotten bad within an hour and that if it's been two days that he should be fine.

I highly doubt that is what anyone who understands how these poisons work would have advised. Signs of this sort of poisoning take between two to seven days to show up. Sorry. Try harder.

To everyone who has been on this post, Coconut is still fine. No abnormalities, no loss of appetite, his stools are still looking normal, his urine is still normal, he's still running around and playing, etc.

This is a picture of him from summer in August!
