    Thanks all,

The muscle spasms are not typical of flyball. Those would be shoulder or elbow. Plus one of the things they teach him is how to hit the box properly to prevent injury. We spent 6 weeks just teaching him how to do a swimmers turn so he really just runs up the box an turns. Kind of like doing a banked turn in a NASCAR race, in a Hemi ;-)

He was a lot better this morning. We got up this morning and he was stretching and rolling over to be all rubbed and loved. He went out and went down the steps to go potty by himself. I was standing right there. He was not thrilled that I put a harness on him. He hasn't wore one since he was about a year old. Vet wanted him crated or leashed so he wasn't roaming at night but if I leashed him she wanted a harness so no pressure was put on his neck. I figured sleeping in his bed which has memory foam mattress would be better than crate would be on his back and neck. He was a lot more active but I could tell not 100%. I was sitting on the couch drinking coffee this morning and he normally comes up and sits beside me. He came over and put his head on the couch like, dad I really want to come up there by you but then he laid down at my feet.

I can't wait to tell the vet this one though. Typical Lab spirit. So the vet also wanted me to raise his bowls up so he didn't have to bend down to eat or drink. I had a nice cardboard box box about 10 inches high that fit his tray where his water and food bowls sit in to catch the accidental spills. Hemi has never eaten from elevated bowls. I fixed his supper last night and walked out of the room to get something I come back and he is there with rear feet on the floor, front feet up on the tray eating. He give me a look like dad, this is kind of awkward way to eat. I couldn't help but laugh. Then I showed him how to eat. He still kept getting his front paws up there though.

Jeff, the title DID scare the H---- out of me!!!! Sending lots of MOJO to Hemi and you. Hemi is starting to get closer to middle age (ouch) and even thou you are both very active, he may need some supplements for joints and muscles.

Hope you both are much better with a little rest.

Hmm, if he's having muscle spasms, I wonder why they didn't put him on Methocarbamol? It's a muscle relaxer. Brandy is going through a similar thing right now, but her issue is her lower back. She has needed two chiro adjustments so far, one in the front and one in the back. I have her off the Tramadol now, but she's still getting the Methocarbamol. I hope Hemi continues to improve! But if he doesn't, you might want to ask your vet about the muscle relaxer.

I can just envision Hemi standing there eating his food. With all the balancing on balls and other tricks you've done with him, it's a not surprising to hear he thought this was just another new activity, with a bowl of food for his reward! Glad to hear he's moving better.

Poor Hemi! I laughed out loud when I read about his paws up on the box. Too funny! Sending prayers his way!

Healing mojo being sent for Hemi. I knew Hemi does flyball and I feared he tore a ligament. Glad he's on the mend. As bright as labs are, they can be so silly sometimes.
