    Cold Laser and Vet Update

Folks have asked, in other threads, so thought I would relay our experience. I'm not sure if it's our first experience, I never asked if the laser treatments Oban had last year at Ortho Rehab were cold laser.

Last FRiday he had a VEt visit, we walked first at a place on the way so I was not able to do his icing, it showed in his limp so the Vet gave him a cold laser treatment before the acupuncture. Usually I don't see the results of the acupuncture till the next day. Acupuncture doesn't always target his gimpy spots either, sometimes she targets his digestive issues. But, back to the limp, Oban was much better Friday night. The cold laser seems to have had a marked affect on his sore elbows.

Then on Saturday it was cold, we had a breath of snow, Oban felt really good and went zoomie on his walk. At one point he was literally bouncing up and down off all four feet and not going anywhere but then he did run, between the trees, over the ice and snow, through the flooded areas of ice water, jumping deadfall. So much for the cold laser treatment.

The Vet just called, all his blood work is GOOD. Normal albumin and liver, normal everything. My poor little boy who was so sick two years ago and probably before that too, as ever since I started asking for blood work at age 5 his albumin levels have been low. I asked for the actual report, should get it soon by email.

We titred him and he has acceptable levels for Hepatitis , quite good for Parvo, but one serial dilution low for Distemper. These levels are all UP from his last titre two years ago. This test tends to measure low on Distemper so the Vet says she feels mounting any response shows protective levels and we will not vaccinate. If I want to board him the Distemper may be a sticking point for some facilities but the Vet will write a letter that she hopes would help.

    Yay!

Yay for Oban!!! I remember how sick he was not too long ago. It always make you feel better when they take off running. Well sometimes, depends if the running is going to get them into more trouble.
