    Barkinson's

My yellow lab's front right leg shakes a lot sometimes when he is sitting down (always the right leg). It doesn't seem like it is an anxiety issue. Also, it doesn't seem like it is associated with being excited for a ride. Sometimes it happens when we are all sitting around watching TV and everybody is in a good mood. Chief will be sitting and his front right leg will just shake. It seems like he is always looking at us when this happens.
I hope this thread in conjunction with my others doesn't make it seem like I'm raising an unhappy basket case.

I had a dog that did that. He'd sit and the lower part of his right front leg would twitch uncontrollably although he didn't seem bothered by it. But then I noticed that his elbow joint was kind of swollen. I didn't put two and two together until he started limping. It turned out to be a tumor on his elbow joint and it was causing either pain that made him twitch or maybe just the twitch itself.

Last night, Chief came and sat by the couch and I leaned over and was doing that kind of hug/petting combination we all do. His left leg (I was wrong in my first post) was shaking uncontrollably. I put my hand around his leg and gently applied pressure from his shoulder down to his paw. There was no reaction to pain or discomfort, only looking at me like he did not approve of this new petting technique and to get back to the chest rubbing. I've never had a dog that shakes like this; then again, I've only had 5 dogs. Is this just common behavior?

I've had them do that. Never an issue. Sometimes I see the twitches when they are very excited or right after a great outing. I think it's just a behavioral thing.
