Thanks for the update- all good thoughts your way!
It's great that you have access to water for Daisy. We were shocked by how much Kimber atrophied after her spinal injury; she was only in the clinic for 4 days, but lost so much muscle in that time. We did all of the home exercises with her but it was when we got the okay to get her in the pool that we saw major improvement. Our rehab vet said that every week of water therapy was like a month of on-land work. It made such a difference.
Kimber never got back to pre-injury strength but all the vets said she was able to recover as much as she did because she was in top shape to start with. And now at 11, we keep exercising her regularly and the vets say she's in better shape than many other 11-year-old labs who don't have past injuries.
Hugs to you all.

All good thoughts. We had some unexplained muscle waste on Fran's spine and wound up getting all kinds of tests and an ultrasound. The vet was convinced she had cancer but nothing came back positive so we're still wondering.

Kimber's amazing recovery after the spinal injury gives me a lot of hope for Daisy. I'm trying not to do too much too soon since I know its a slow process but eventually I would like to consult with a rehab vet to build some of that strength back.

Once you have her stabilized, that could be a great option. Chloe had TONS of muscle atrophy after severing a tendon in her paw 2 years ago, but we were able to rebuild the strength through rehab followed by daily exercise. You would never know she had a problem now. The thing that made the biggest impact on her was the underwater treadmill. Since her issues were unilateral, they added resistance to the bad leg to make it work harder, but with bilateral issues probably just walking on it would be enough.

This is a good update, considering what you thought you might be facing. Do you think she might benefit from a basic step-in harness? It would enable you to help lift when she has difficulty like she did on the bed. We ended up keeping one on Lucy, and we needed to be more attentive and ready to help her with things, as it was unpredictable what she was going to have difficulty with in the beginning.
So glad Daisy's on a treatment plan - will watch for future updates.
sending good thoughts the treatment works for Daisy!
