She's getting around pretty well. Hope they can get a handle on the infection.

Keeping Penny in our thoughts that the infection is gone soon. She does look like she has a very important job wearing the harness. The drop video is cute

Update: Initial culture results came in and the vet put Penny on Clamavox for 21 days. I'm at the point where another $110 prescription is "not too bad" :P

Incision continues to show small progress each day (fingers crossed).

Update: staples were removed Thursday. Incision is healing nicely. There was a small pocket with liquid though. New antibiotics hopefully kick this infection to the curb and there won't be further complications. She is hopping less when she gets going lately. Leg seems stronger. We haven't changed/increased our walks though (well ok maybe a smidge but barely).

I look forward to ditching the cone but to be honest, I'm nervous. I think next week she could probably go coneless but I am paranoid something will happen randomly especially when I am gone for a workday. I bet most people would have stopped using it on her by now, poor girl But I really don'T want a set-back where she has to wear it for another month.

Great news about the staples. As far as the cone goes, it's always best to go with your gut. Ram wore his for a couple of days after the staples came out when I went to work.

Yay! But, if it was me and I had any doubts at all about leaving the cone on it would stay on. Too much at stake after what you and she have been through. I'd at least not try the cone off till I was able to watch, but you know what they're like, what they do when you watch and what they do when you aren't watching can be awfully different. That was actually part of the Dognition course Oban and I did, and dogs are sneaky.

Yeah pretty much. but then it may mean poor pen is coned for another 2-3 weeks out of my anxiety hahahahahhahaha

she doesn't seem to lick it. once this weekend i saw her licking something (via my camera and I ran right down) but to be honest, it could have been her butt or foot or anything. I didn't look closely I just reacted :P But this is very different than when I am at work. Maybe we'll keep it on in the crate this week and I will double check with surgeon on how I know it is healed enough that if she licks it it's not going o be an issue. Then slowly test her with the inflatable cone overnight. If I have the camera on her and am in the house she is sometimes cone-less.

i'd do what you are doing - watch her on the camera, and try to figure out if she is licking or not... even a short test run out of the house in case she's figured out that if you're in the house, you can see her...
