We've been prescribed twice a week baths!

Daisy has what might be the onset of calcinosis cutis. Just another lovely side effect of the Cushing's disease! The skin along her spine is red and irritated looking and there was some white calcified bumps in some areas, particularly near her butt. The hair here won't sit flat and it looks like the undercoat in this area has actually fallen out. The vet wants us to do baths with hypoallergenic shampoo twice a week. I've done some research and the baths should help. Unfortunately it seems like the skin gets worse before it gets better and I'm hesitant to add anything like salmon oil to her diet to help with coat because diarrhea is indicative of an overdose of her medication and the more variables I add in the more difficult it will be to determine the source of any issues that pop up.

Ah the joys of dealing with chronic illnesses. On the bright side, the shampoo smells quite nice.

We had to do the same with our Lily, due to her severe allergies. Sending good thoughts!

A pain in the butt for you but hope it clears up her pain in the butt, eventually. Does it getting worse first mean it's working? Or might you go through this and it just doesn't work?

We've caught it early and have already started treating the Cushings. From people that have experienced it over on the Cushing's forum, sometimes catching it early means it doesn't get as bad. Keeping my fingers crossed that's the case here. Some of the pictures my vet showed me were pretty bad looking - crusty patches that look like mange.

Poor Daisy. Did not know about this and Cushings. In fact, don't know much about Cushings.

You might be right about adding anything else to her regime so it's easier to pin down a problem.

I didn't either until Daisy was diagnosed with it. Maybe one day someone will come across this forum and my posts will be able to help them.

Oh, poor Daisy. How is she now, beside the skin issues? Have you adjusted her medication?
