    Big Bites Turned Black?

Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows what's going on with my one year old pup. He's going to the vet tomorrow if they'll see him but until then I'm looking for any and all advice.
I noticed he had some bumps on his leg probably about a month ago. They looked like they were probably just bug bites. Not fleas, he's always been current on Triflexis and we comb regularly with no sign of fleas in our environment for the past few months. I'm currently away for a month and my mom is watching my pups. She sent me a pic that I'll try to attach. There's no more bumps but the skin has turned black. Has anyone seen this before? Can you tell me what it is or how to help until he gets to the vet?

I'm super stressed over this and feel so bad that I'm not home with him right now.

Oban had something looking very much like that, started as red bumps, some became pustules, then black and the skin turned black. Vet said it was a bacterial infection. We just sort of let it run it's course and it went away, this was two years ago, and has not come back. It was on his stomach and groin area. It didn't seem to bother him, wasn't itchy.

Thank you both! I dealt with a lot of skin issues with my older pup but nothing like this

Can't say I've ever seen anything like this. Let us know what the vet says.

Didn’t look quite like that, but Scully used to get skin infections on her belly/vulva area and the skin did turn black in those spots as a result.

Thanks for the replies. The bad news is the vet can't see him until Friday so for now it's a waiting game.

Hey guys! Came back to post an update in case it helps anyone in the future. Kija is fine! The issue is apparently that his body is just too sensitive and he apparently had a sort of mini allergic reaction to the bug bites. We are not sure what bit him but we're assuming fire ants. The black was a minor irritation infection as a result of him scratching/chewing/not allowing the bites to heal. He was put on an antibiotic and an antihistamine and suggested to be sentenced to the cone of shame if he still doesn't leave it alone. Not by vet recommendation, I also made sure he gets fish oil supplements and astragalus to help his coat skin and immune system get back into gear faster. And I thought I dealt with all the sensitive skin issues possible with Callie! Kija has come to take the title.

    Glad to hear he's fine.

We have sensitive stomachs here...but skin seems fine. Mine get fish oil so maybe that's the trick.
