    Glugosamine

What is the dosage per day recommended for labs again? 1500mg

Also, how important is MSM. Looking at various options to help Rocky manage (especially as he is off Metecam now). I had flexadin for Penny so have been giving that to Rocky and he seems…pretty good actually. we are three weeks in ish. I was looking to see if my regular vet offers it (they do) but they also have Felaxin PLUS which has Gluc and Chondrinton and devils claw (but no MSM).

This is the version I have now: Flexadin Advanced | Vetoquinol

And the "upgrated" version: Flexadin Plus | Vetoquinol

Currenty for Gluc I am giving his this, just because I had some in the house: Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals - GlucosaPet

I know there are tons of options, just curious on daily recommended dosage for an 80pd lab and if MSM not being in there is a big issue. not sure the valu of the flexadin he is currently getting and it may be my imagination but he seems good (maybe it's the other stuff though).

As soon as a senior walks into our house they get started on Cosequin DS. There are lots of good products on the market. The most important thing to remember is that it's not like an aspirin working right away. It takes quite a while.

An analogy: Many are getting Dexa scans to measure bone density. If low, they may be put on a supplement. The follow up is scheduled for 2 years later.

While not a bone supplement, it does take time for changes to be seen. Better to be proactive with a middle aged dog than trying to catch up later in it's life.

When Lark had some limping as a youngster, the ortho vet we saw said to be sure whatever glucosamine supplement we gave should also contain MSM. Their current supplement contains glucosamine 900 mg, MSM 800 mg, chondroitin 350 mg. When first starting this one they say to give double that dose as a loading dose for 4-6 weeks then the above amount daily after that. On the bottle it says if they are doing OK on the regular maintenance daily dose that you can cut it back to every other day. It also says you can go back to the loading dose on weekends or if they're going to be especially active. Since I'm not sure the research actually supports the efficacy of glucosamine anyway, I just give one to each of them daily.

Flexadin doesn't have MSM but it has devil's claw which helps with the pain and acts as an antiinflamatory. It's a great supplement and I've used it for years. My vet recommended it and said he saw great results with it.
