Been away for a while - - not sure if you remember me; I'm owned by Rivers & Creek

Rivers is my blonde German Hovawart; his best friend Creek, best we can tell, is a white Australian shepherd merle mixed with yellow lab.

New to our gang almost a year ago this month, is Meka - - she is a blue merle Pomeranian.

Creek - - our middle child who is now 3yrs old, barely survived a case of what the vet thought was "raccoon fever" - - but not leptosporosis.

Out of the blue, day after Thanksgiving last year, she started having fevers of 105-106 for 4 days; wouldn't eat on her own will, obviously, foaming at the mouth - but never vomited. She had neurological, cramping issues as well.

4 rounds of antibiotics, 6 rounds of IV fluids, they sent us home feeding her through a horse syringe.

Out come didn't look good, but I never gave up. 4 wks later after endless 2hr feedings of liquid cooked chicken, rice, liver & baby food around the clock, constant massaging of her limbs & just shear fate. Creek finally stood up; but instantly fell over - - she hadn't hardly moved on her own power in 4wks.

Instantly called the vet - - I had had them on the phone daily anyways!! At that point they were able to give her another med for fighting muscle spams from having been down so long.

Within 3 days Creek was moving on her own power; she had lost 10lbs, lots of muscle mass, but never the will to live. So I refused to give up on her too.

Today we have our vibrant, very healthy 3yr old girl who took a few months to recoup, but is 100% back to normal. Vet feels she lost a bit of vision; hard to know, as she has crystal blue eyes, one half brown anyways. We were very fortunate to not have endured organ failure with fevers that high for 4-5 days.

But, I'm happy to say, our gang of 3 are all perfectly healthy. Everyone of them eating a complete raw diet & have been since middle child was a puppy; new puppy has never had anything different.

Hi, good to hear from you. I was just thinking of you the other day as someone we hadn't heard from for quite a while. I think I had been contemplating the dogs' food. It would be lovely to see updated photos of your 3. I've never seen a merle pom.

Your experience with Creek sounds so frightening! I'm glad she pulled through and is doing well. Clearly that was only due to your caring ministrations.

    Welcome back, stick around!

So glad to hear Creek made it through a very scary situation.

Certainly do remember you. Would love to see pictures of the entire clan.

    Awesome...feels great to be remembered!!

I'm honestly trying to figure out the picture thing; can't seem to remember how to do it. Can someone help me??

I myself underwent stage 1 ovarian cancer/hysterectomy a little over a year ago; dropped away from a lot of commitments during that time. Feels good to be back

-0710161135-jpg Blue merle Pomeranian, one & only dog purchased from a breeder in our lifetime. But we wanted a puppy that would learn to adapt & deal with 2 big rowdy dogs; she's been an excellent fit!! Came from a breeder out of Arizona with superb health, thus far....turns a year old this month!

Meka is awfully cute! I'd have not thought of a pom as a companion for so much larger dogs. I remember how Rivers, particularly, is such an active dog. Wasn't it hard for you to keep weight on him because of how active he is? Thanks for the photos.

I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues that kept you away. You're back in the fold and I'm so glad.
