    Yes, tested for parasites, none.

Found that article too, thanks. And another one that repeats much of the material. Nice to find things that don't outright contradict each other.

We have friends with children, adults now, who have Crohn's. One went from body building Superman to a virtual skeleton in a very short period of time. My Vet asked if Oban is normally sensitive to food change and he hasn't been. Till now it's seemed his stomach/gut is made of cast iron.

Know about "nervous stomach and bowels". Never pinpointed to Crohn's, always told I was an excitable child and that's the problem. But when my sister was diagnosed with it as an adult, "light bulb" moment. Shame, but have family members that don't want to see the truth, just blame the child. Stress is a huge factor too. So sorry to hear about your friend's adult children. Definitely a very painful, dibilitating disease.

Oban, like some people, as they get older, their systems change. Food you normally had no problem with, becomes a problem. Know people who never had problems with milk, but as adults are lactose intolerant. Dogs are the same.

Hoping you find the right balance for Oban. Poor sweetie.

Oban is not better, if anything the stool issue is worse after a case of Royal Canin gastro, and seven days of Flagyl. It is worse, fire hose poopers shooting out. His ears are much better. The flatulence is better but not gone. I discussed it in depth with the Vet and agreed to go with Prednisone. We went though the options of testing for cancer, not likely it is, and not likely to be found even if it is, without surgery. Exploratory surgery or Prednisone. Hmmm, pred.

We'll load him up on it, he'll be on a month, wean down, then we will try to wean him right off and see what happens. Our English Springer Spaniel was on low dose Pred. for 7 years after being attacked by two teams of huskies. At first we thought her neck was broken. We never did find out for sure, suspected a pinched nerve. But whenever we weaned her off the Pred. her pain came back so she ended up being on it for the rest of her life, which was active, happy and unimpaired till her liver quite at age 14.5 when it might have anyway. Yes, I'm trying to convince myself it will be all right for Oban as it was for Whisper.

The symptoms and the odds are stacked with IBD. I took Oban in with me when I picked up the meds and new case of food. He's down to 73.4 pounds. His back bone is prominent and he's ribby. He was 82 lbs at the beginning of April, 78.8 a month ago. He's happy and his normal self and got lots of loves and hugs from the gals at the Vet's but he cannot keep on like this, he must feel crummy though he doesn't show it.

    Crap. Literally.

I see you did full bloodwork in April, but did you do one after the symptoms appeared?

Hmmm, weird, guess I didn't hit the Post button when I answered this before.

No blood work after April, but, in hindsight symptoms started as early as March when Oban vomited up his breakfast the morning after his Cartrophen shot. The odd vomit like that I don't pay much attention to, but I did note it was after the shot. Then again the next month, again pretty minor. The third time he was really sick, vomit, diarrhea, wouldn't eat, lethargic for a day and a half. The third time was only 15 days after the second time. Now that I look back that seems important, he never really got completely over that. At the time we looked up Cartrophen side effects, vomit is not common but it is one. Poor little boy, we kept trying to help him by stopping this, that and the other thing and none of it worked.

Can only send good healing vibes to Oban. So hoping you find the cause of making your sweet boy so miserable.

Any improvements with Oban's poop issues? There was a thread awhile back where Jeff had mentioned a medication (can't remember the name of it) for firming up poop to Nancy0 when Niner was having issues.

maybe sulfasalizine or sulfa-something-ine. I think he found it worked for Hemi when nothing else would when Hemi was a younger lad.
