Giving a treat before bedtime, but still throwing up everynite;

My choc lab is 14 months old. He started throwing up a yellow bile sometime during the nite about a month ago. We started giving him a treat before bedtime around 11pm, thinking it was empty stomach syndrom, but he still throws up 4-5 nites per week. He has breakfast (1 1/4 cups of Chicken Soup for the Soul) at 7:30 am and dinner (1 1/2 cups) at 5:30 pm. He's otherwise healthy and active. Any thoughts on what else could possibly be the problem? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I don't think just one treat will do the trick. Maybe divide up his evening meal and give half of it before bedtime.

Better to give him some non-dry food for his bedtime snack....some canned food or yogurt.

Have you tried feeding the second meal later, maybe 7:30? If this doesn't work, I would try another food.

When I fed anything ( treat, meal, etc.) to Abby after 6pm she would throw it up in the middle of the night. So now I feed in the morning and around 5-6pm with no problems. I just think it was a mental thing with her and if she had anything on her stomach fresh, she would put it back up.
Might want to try that feeding earlier with nothing after 6pm. Good luck

I had this happen with my first lab, but he was older ( 6 years) when it started. Vet recommended a pepcid tablet & 1/4 cup of food at about 8PM. That worked for us....good luck. BTW that was in addition to his 2 meals a day.

Maybe push the evening meal to 7:30. I have my crew on a 12 hour feeding schedule.

We went through this with True also, turned out to be a food intolerance. When we tried the extra treats at bedtime he still threw up. The kibble was fine, it was the treats he was getting at the bank, the coffee shop then the nighttime treats. He has a beef intolerance and anything that even has beef stock in it will make him very sick to his stomach. We eliminated everything but his kibble and gave fruits and veggies for snacks, it cleared up quickly then we started figuing out what the problem was. It might be worth a try.
