I gotta tell you... once you've been bitten by the lab-bug, there is no going back. At least not so far as performance, athleticism, biddability, intelligence... etc. etc. I love Goldens, I do. And Flat Coats are beautiful to watch. They are as smart as labs. But there is just a difference that I can't put my finger on. Sort of like, I don't know... it's like Labs are so darn honest. They're not hard to read.

Seriously, there is a reason they are the most popular dogs on the continent... maybe the world. (I kinda wish they weren't. But it is what it is.)

But to Barry's point: Wish I could see some Clumbers working. I'm sure it would be fascinating.

I've never heard of the clumber. To me the google stock photos of the breed are not attractive...but the photos of the dog Barry shared that is in working condition is much more appealing to me!

I like the picture because they not only show a dog in working condition... they show him wet and muddy. The implication is that he's not just another pretty face, but a dog that will do what it takes to get the job done.

Is it just me or do you see a breed that might have been part of what went into producing the Golden Retriever?
