I decided to bag it. I know a bunch from my training circle went but judging from the texts everyone is sending around, it's a dicey drive.

SO... that will hugely UP THE STAKES for HT's in the near future. Because we live in NV, we are always driving to places far away to run. Going to Corning (3.5 hours in good weather) is like next-door for us. The next HT opportunity will be our own double header.

The plan was to only run Rocket Dog in one of the two Senior stakes, the one on Thursday. The reason for this is because dogs like her get completely wound up with the adrenalin of fresh ducks, live fliers, and running without an e-collar. The pro I work with has a theory that after one run, the dog needs a couple of weeks of training to get under control again.

After our HT, there is one in Glide, OR (7 hours away) and in July, one in Portland (9 hours, but take on 2 more if you hit it during the rush hour.)

If she can hold it together for two Seniors at our HT, we will only have to go to Glide to get our SH title. So, I am probably going to p1ss off my pro by running twice at our double header.

Dernit... this weather has ruined 2 California HT's. Montery Bay RC had to cancel theirs in February because the winter rains had made their grounds inaccessible. And I burned this one due to weather.

    Shucks and darn.

After I posted yesterday I looked out the window and it was snowing so hard you couldn't see anything. The power went off during the night and today has been cold and windy. If your weather was anything like this you made the right decision.
Your pro sounds very much like Bill. He never led us to run two weekends in a row. He said we just built bad habits.
I have also found that dogs like RD and M get rally high running back to back tests.

I know, Anna. Ergh. It might be a disaster.

If she is a jerk on line on Thurs. I'll scratch her on Sat. But heck, how do you get a dog to run a MN or any event that runs for 4 or 5 days?

Maybe if you get through the first two or three days the dog is to tired to be an a$$ on the 4 and 5th.Not like though with little Miss M. I think she is getting worse. She pounced on poor Wallace and hurt his shoulder. He is such a softy he won't put her in her place.

I'm probably going to be sadly disillusioned at her first HT, but I think the severe (because that's the best adjective I can think of to describe it...) obedience we've been using since our debacle at Hills Ferry seems to be paying off.

Yep... setting myself up to have my dreams crushed.

But, that's about 4 weeks away. We won't know until we give it a try.
