    Puppies

The puppies took over training in full fore today. We had four of them, all between 10 and 14 weeks. They are full of themselves and all retrieving puppy bumpers and teal Dokkins. I also took out some pigeons and chukar. The puppies loved the bird. These little guy are really doing well.
The two older puppies A Weim and Toller are not nearly as keen about the birds.
Next Sunday we are hosting a picnic trial and there will be a special event just for the puppies.

Funny, but my one co-owner has Weims (GASP!!!! ) . I FINALLY was able to use MY boy this winter at stud and held the one boy back for her, hoping she'd love him as much as I did. (Yep). Anyhow, last Sunday she stopped by, had 2 8 wk old Weims and a 4mo (this one from FC breeding) w/ her. I showed her how well the boy handled my live pigeons and she was SOLD. She took her 4mo Weim out... she was scared at first but eventually pointed it at least. But what can I say.. Love my labs and their outgoing temperaments!!! Best thing ever is I get to puppy sit him this long weekend as she's headed thru for a big dog show in ID. This time I get to do more bird training!!!!

love to see their little brains going "oh! oh! oooohhhh! so THIS is what we're supposed to be doing!" Triggie is off real birds right now because he is to rough with them. No problem being enthusiastic about the real ones, so he's also playing with the baby dokkens and teals, and LOOOVVVEEEESSSS it.
even in the swimming lessons, he and his sis are enjoying the retrieving immensely. and getting to work on steady, and quiet, and straight out and back, all good stuff for them to be doing now.
Would be really cool to see a bunch of them working! such fun! i really need to see about some of the events around, i don't seem to hear about them until theyre over.

This will probably be the last Picnic Trial for the season as the real trials and tests will start in early May. A good place to check for training days and fun events is www.canadianhuntingform.com. Most of the clubs list their events there. I know that Eastern Ontario is having a training day on Saturday as well.
After Sundays free for all I am not sure I have the energy for another pup. Easter diner was put off until Monday as we were all too tired to cook.
M's breeder would like me to breed her but means she would miss almost and entire season.
Would love to post some pics but just n`t seem t get the hang of it. I`ll have to find someone to give me lessons.
