Sorry to hear of your problem, but sounds like you have a good plan going forward. Sending lab board MOJO and prayers all goes well.

Thanks to a lot of research, if you HAVE to have Cancer, breast cancer is the one you want. Back in the late 60's, when my grandmother had breast cancer, treatment was awful and not particularly successful. They did a double mastectomy, radical node dissection, and then blasted her with radiation, badly burning her chest. Not how it's done now, thank the good Lord, research scientists, doctors, clinical pharmacists and nurses.

I get to join a great club of survivors now. Looking forward to getting the drain out and bandages off later today. I know there will be aesthetic changes, but small price to pay. I'm a little nervous, about getting the report from the pathologist.

LOL, humour helps so in hopes of adding humour I think you must change your title. You don't have colon cancer.

My Mum had breast cancer 50 years ago, when she was 50. Radical mastectomy, radiation and cobalt. No chemo back then. She passed away four years ago at age 96. I clearly remember like it was yesterday, the hardest thing for Mum was seeing little kids with their bald heads marked for where the radiation should go while she was waiting for her treatments.

OMG... your mom was certainly one of the fortunate few to have made it through way back then. My mom was diagnosed with ductal cancer in situ when she was in her 80's. Lumpectomy and radiation. She turned 94 this month.

Thank you so much Mike. I had a Doctor's appointment at 4PM... The surgeon brought in the pathologists report and said it was worse than she thought. It was bigger than originally suspected, the cell type is quite aggressive, they couldn't get clean margins and 4 of 5 nodes were positive, not the one. So we had both decided that mastectomy would be needed and... right at that moment, the doctor's beeper went off on a trauma red. She had to run from the room. Naturally, I had lots of questions, and that was it.

The "gatekeeper" in any practice is the scheduler. They told me to call her in the morning. I think I won't call her... I will drive in and stand in front of her desk and tell her I want the mastectomy (I don't know... maybe that's plural) ASAP.

But... I am standing in the need of prayer for sure.

    Thanks

Sorry to hear your diagnosis and then have another shoe drop. Both my grandmothers had it, Dad's Mom did very well even back then. Mom also had breast cancer and she did spectacular, didn't slow her down a bit. I think a lot had to do with her attitude and the fact that cancer did not want to argue with her. I've had so many darn needle biopsies done I feel like a dang pin cushion. Have seriously considered double mastectomy but to get rid of the headaches and stress.

Do get involved with a support group, tremendous help. Never, ever, be hesitant to ask questions and don't stop until you get an understandable answer. You know your body best and you are your best advocate.

My prayers are with you. Keep up the positive attitude and you'll beat this.
