Well... I thought and thought about it and figured out a way to get all three of them in the trailer. I took a bolster out from one of the dinette benches making it wider and figured RD could sleep there. Then I brought in a stiff foam mat from one of the crates and made a bed under the table. That was a nice hide hole for Bridget the smallest. Then Lee Roy the Mystery dog could sleep on a rug by the door. The cold was so bad I think my muscles were sorta in spasm from shivering and kicked off a bit of a migraine. So I took my cocktail of meds and went to sleep (i.e., dropped in to a drug-induced coma). When I woke up in the morning, the three dogs had totally re-arranged themselves. RD under the table, LeeRoy on the bench and Bridget on the rug by the door.

      Go figure.

Going to dinner tonight with a swell group of people. One of them has qualified for the National 5 times. Her dog had TPLO surgery bilaterally and she worked with canine PT specialists... The dog took second in an 80 dog Open in her first competition down here just a few weeks ago.

This part of TX is really Retriever Central in the winter!!!

I've been training with a group twice a week pretty much all winter, and I'm pretty damn tired of being frozen. It was 26 and windy when we started training yesterday morning. On the other hand, Brooks loves it like this, and I know he'll be hating it once it warms up!

I know I'm old because we used to train all winter long years ago but not now. A friend would flatten the snow with his ATV and a railroad tie and set up bales of hay and cedar rail jumps. We would train for the Gold Whistle event at the Toronto Sportsman Show. I actually won it way back in 2004. Then the dogs were eliminated from the show so we really had no drive to get out training when it was soooo cold here. One crazy sunny day it was actually -20 but because of the lack of wind and sun and proper clothing we didn't realize it. Can't say I miss those days but I hear the dogs are back at the Sportsman Show. Who knows.
