Ignore the thumbnail. I'm not sure how to delete it.

Right. A live flier. As such, the exact trajectory is always uncertain. "X" marks the spot.... sort of. The blind (not shown in the thumbnail...) was under the arc of the short bird. Few dogs went back to the island on the blind. I think all the dogs got the blind, but several went into the thickets along the edge and went out of sight. Some of those would just scallop back when given a left over or left back. Though they got the blind, I don't think they qualified.

Looks like a fairly tight test. I like the set up. I might have worried about my dog disappearing into the thicket as you say the brushes were thorny. How was the footing on the line to the long bird up the shore line.? Was the dry lakebed sandy or muddy?. Around here a lot of our ponds are clay lined and can be muddy and sticky when they dry.

This part of the gigundous reservoir seemed to have a soft clay that degraded into dust quickly. It was, dry... not a speck of mud. Interesting that you asked about safety. No one was too concerned about thorns. It's an odd vegetation, the new growth, near the bottom has softer thorns that harden as shoots grow out and up. So more of a problem for people. There was one scratch for "safety concerns." The danger was for the high rollers that would go hell-for-leather after the flier. There were hummocks... kind of like a trough... as the dog leaped up onto the shore near the flier. Two dogs did stumble, none fell or flipped. But it was obviously a concern for some.
