thats some serious wildlife right in your yard! We have a very active coyote pack behind us. sometimes I see one or more of them. They have much to feast on around here. I think thats partly why the rabbits insist on living INSIDE the yard, not out - they're relatively safer in than out, even with Scout catching the occasional bunny

Took a tour of a new cutting by the Society for the Protection of NH Forests (SPNHF) today. The primary beneficiary of this logging is for wildlife.

It makes me sad there is no active chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society in NH.

Because these people really care about healthy forests.

L-R Jeremy, consulting forester. Wendy, lead forester SPNHF https://www.forestsociety.org/staff/wendy-weisiger. Dave, Director of Education, https://www.forestsociety.org/staff/dave-anderson.

We explored patch cuts with an emphasis of regeneration of aspen or as we say in New England, poplah'.

It is my dream that this is just the beginning of "Project Upland" in NH. Project Upland - Film Series

    Harry, are you listening?

I want so much to hunt behind Belle and be a grouse bum!

    In Quest of a Drummer

Opened up camp today. Warmest winter on record. We drove right in.

We were first on our side of the mountain this winter.

There has been a partridge along an old stone wall for many years now. Not so much the same individual but from the same location. Put cameras on two logs last spring. Only got raccoon's.

    Found another prospect.

    Looking downhill.

    Looking uphill.

It didn't hurt there were grouse tracks nearby.

A partridge flushed wild as we approached our neighbors pasture.

It is going to be 75 degrees Wednesday.

    I call Mud Season!

    Stand by!

    Dave,
I told ye 2 years ago that BELLE was a diamond in the rough. We have watched her together as a motivated, yellow rocket, K9 bird hunting technician. I never had any doubts.

    Good Lass BELLE!
