Took all seven dogs out for a little planted pheasant hunt. My two old one (11 yrs) were not to be left out. My husband made the mistake of leaving the window of the truck down and Trip was so excited she bailed right out of it. Yesterday I thought she was not long for this world but today she was a pup again. Chant worked hard but I think with M I have turned her into too good a nonslip retriever. She was just not sure that she should be leaving my side to hunt. This is something we will need to work on for her senior next year. I don't like to get her too wound up about quartering as she needs that long straight run for FT blinds. We will find a balance. Eden's young dog was really birdie and took to the hunt in cover quite well. She has not quite the discipline that M has so naturally wanted to run around. The poor little dog from down the road was here running around as well and when Rand reared up on the first pheasant and the 12 guage let go poor Luna took off like a scalded cat. However she was not too traumatised as she was waiting up at the house when we came in. Right now they are laying around sleeping and the snoring is in unison. Tomorrow they get a day off as we have the annual meeting for one of the many dog clubs we belong to.
I can't help but smile picturing all this!!!! Great day for your crew!!
