    Dogs Just Know...

I swear, Scout knows its Saturday (group field training day) as soon as we get up... nothing different so far from the rest of the week, out to potty, get his breakfast soaking, feed the birds... but HE KNOWS! he doesn't want to go off the deck to do his business - he will reluctantly pee, but he's looking up at the deck the whole time. forget pooping (unless he's desperate!). As soon as I start dressing (now this time of year, there's a layering thing happening...) he starts smiling, and won't leave my side... and then of course its time for the outerwear, which involves camo, and clothing normally only worn for field work, so now, no way no how is he letting me out of his sight. And then out comes the field bag, and he starts his happy dance. sits instantly when told, but the tail can't stop.....

Do any of your dogs JUST KNOW when its a certain day of the week? he does the same thing Wed and Thurs evening when we have "dog school" obedience and Obstacles classes. I saw this picture on Outdoor dog or similar site, and it just seems so fitting...

Absolutely, they know. Charlie knows when we are getting ready to go to the cottage, which is his favourite place in the world.

Not a special day but somehow Oban knows when we are going to go out without him and goes and gets his honda for us to stuff before we leave. Today we meant to go into town for some shopping but changed the plan when snow blustered in, but Oban got his treats anyway, which seemed to throw him a bit.
