"REV" Having A Great 1st Season

    Aye Mates,
I received an update and some photos from REV'S owner today and he reports the "rookie retriever" is having a banner bird season. REV was cross trained to hunt both upland birds and waterfowl and his debut season is seeing REV performing grandly in both venues.

REV with four nice roosters flushed for two gunners while handled by his owner. REV was steady to wing, shot, and fall on all four birds as he has been conditioned to be during formal training. A solid foundation of obedience and lots of subsequent patient and diligent training working REV on the end of a check cord while using live birds has produced another very strong, young, and highly proficient upland performer.

REV and his proud owner take a post hunt photo on REV'S first hunt for Canada Geese. REV remained steady and quiet while in the blind, marked birds well, and delivered the first eight geese of his field career to the hand of his owner / handler in classic form.

In addition to a solid foundation of obedience, REV'S early training included collar conditioning, "HOLD" and "FORCE FETCH" conditioning. Subsequent focus on the development of proper mouth / delivery skills in the handling of a number of varying training aids, frozen birds, freshly killed birds, and live birds have led to dependable, soft mouthed, delivery to hand consistently and in classic style.

A well planned program of continued success based training and campaigning of REV in hunt tests during 2016 will keep REV advancing his skill levels to include handling to blinds and a number of other skills expected of an advanced level gundog. Intelligent, bird driven, a great tracker, and well developed marking abilities consistently demonstrated, REV is ready to move on to tne next level. REV'S work ethic, love of learning, and continued motivational focus makes him a real pleasure to work with. I look forward to continued training with REV.

    Cheers,
