fun & mentally stimulating stuff for our bird dogs

When we are not in the field with our dogs what kind of games or training do you do with them? ( I live in the city so I am not in the field much) I'm pretty tired of throwing the ball for her.
I usually practice obedience training as well or do long walk in the wood, or beach but would like something more fun & mentally stimulating for her.
    thanks for your help.

Not super imaginative but another ball oriented game I like to play that combines obedience is to put her in a down stay, throw the ball as far as you can, make her wait a little and then release her. This is good impulse control practice and will take longer because she has to go hunt the ball out.

We are taking classes, but had done some "preliminary" work in our puppy classes. We started by getting a bunch of open boxes and hiding treats in one of them. We would have a "find" command. From there we are progressing to paired scents with treats and birch scent. Soon we will go to just birch then add in different scents. But the games, finding the treats, you can do at home.

you can get some "bird" scents at Tractor Supply TSC, we use them to "scent" the bumpers and dokkens. they have duck, pheasant, rabbit, and a few others. That might be fun for her if you did some of the scent detection stuff at home.
