Hoo RAH!
I thought for sure it was going to be a bust because she unfortunately saw a flier shot as we were making a long walk-up to the holding blind. But... nope. She did her hunker-down thing like she was getting in her launch position, but then the long bird sounded and she turned with me to that one. It was an out of order flier.
So we have made great progress. I hope when spring comes she'll remember these lessons. (Although with her... I know it is always going to be a something that can't be taken for granted.) We followed that double with a poison bird with a blind under the arc. That was way too much of a big dog blind. I shouldn't have run it as a poison bird. The gunner had to take the bird away from her (oh yes... I wasn't quick enough on the whistle. Humanly impossible. She was on the true line and hung a 90 degree angle at her top speed. I never knew the laws of physics would permit such a stunt.) Oh, it was very bad. Very hacky. We came back from that and did a nice blind between the flier and the long bird.
But it was a good day, all things considered.

I am glad we don't have to do a flier as I am not sure M could handle it. We did a day with chukar this month but they were supposed to be flush. I think they must have been immature birds because they did not fly well and M just went in and grabbed them. We will be doing pheasants over the next few weeks so maybe we can get a sit to flush with them. Sounds like RD is well on her way. We used a poison bird/ under the arc to the blind on the last master test we set up.
