Why would he just come because of a vibration? In order to have a tool that you can fairly and reliably use, you need to fully condition the dog to the stimulus. You can condition to both e-stimulus and vibration. My preference by far is e-stimulus. Once the dog is through formal Basics we rarely use the collar anyway, although we do keep it on. They just very rarely need it. However, you will get an immediate and reliable correction in a properly conditioned dog. There seems to be a pervasive notion that e-stimulus is abusive, and that is patently false. The more you study, the more you learn, and therefore the more you know. It's more than worth your time.

There is a link in my signature line in blue that says The Smartwork System for Retriever Training (link). Click on that, and it will take you to the site: EVAN GRAHAM | Liberty, MO 64069

Please ask any questions you like. The full product line is found at the "store" button. I'll be happy to explain the content and flow of the program.

I too, being naive with the e-collar was a bit unnerved with this technique, but see the positive results with a friend's dog who was trained to use it.

Get as much info as possible. Plus Mr. Graham has been very nice to offer you help.

Wishing you luck. Hope you update on your progress.
