Jordyn's TD Assessment
Jordyn has her Therapy Dog Assessment this Saturday and if she passes the obedience requirements and accepts the medical equipment we'll be able to take a five week TD Team course and have our evaluation for a certificate at the end. I'm so excited but a bit nervous too since she is so young. Wish us luck.

Jordyn PASSED her assesment today, YAY!!! The trainer said she could easily pass the test today, but it was good that I decided to take the TD Team Course since I haven't been visiting since my boys passed and she needs to see Jordyn under more pressure, but we are on the right track.

The dog has to be at least one year of age and have lived with you for at least 6 mos in order to qualify for an assessment. Once you've passed your assessment and taken the therapy classes you can have your final evaluation to become a certified therapy dog team. The classes are not required if you already have a certified therapy dog, but strongly recommended so the instructor can see how you and the dog interact under pressure. I'm glad I took the classes, some things have changed over the years.
These are the requirements for our group, though different programs may have different requirements so you'll have to check with your local program. |
