I know I've seen this here before

As my title here goes, I've seen other people post this with pictures, but I wasn't sure on how to do a search for it, the right wording.

About week ago, I noticed Shelby had this bump on her head. I didn't think to much of it at first, the way she runs as fast as she can, I thought maybe this bump happened when she running under our deck in the back yard. The deck has lattice around it, but Shelby being a tad skinny, can still manage to get under it. It's a game that Shelby and Cody love to play, like hide and seek, with Cody barking away.

Well I noticed that the bump scabbed over which I thought was good. Again I didn't do anything about it, the bump seemed harmless. A day later, DH tell's me Shelby has a tick he thinks?, and it's bleeding. I told DH it's not a tick, but a sore maybe that she busted open again, playing bitey face with Cody.

So I've been cleaning it up with Neosporin for the last day or so, three times a day. Of course Shelby busted it open again this morning and it was bleeding. DH and I've been concerned, since when it first started, it was like a flat bump. But it seems to gotten a little bigger. It almost feels like a wart, like hard skin.

I know I've seen pictures here before of other members, but I can't remember what it was. It might be nothing, but would like someones opinion.

Here's some pictures.

If you are sure this is an injury it could be a type of puncture wound. And it is growing in size due to puss build up.

You must soak off the scab and squeeze the wound to see if you get puss. And if so, clean if all out.

You don't want this to turn into an abcess. An abcess must heal from the inside out. Otherwise you get an infection.

This means keeping the wound open daily, removing the scab etc. If you get puss and can't deal with this go to the vet as you may need an atibiotic.

Prayers its not an abcess. They aren't necessarily serious but a pain to deal with and time consuming.

Thanks Patty, I'll give it try. I don't think it's abscessed yet I still don't know if Shelby injured herself or not. I'm always outside with them. But Shelby loves to get under the deck to tease Cody, so I can see her getting a puncture/scrape wound in the process. (yea we'll be blocking where Shelby's goes in at, under the deck) <I should say again

I defiantly don't want this turning to abscess, I had a cat long time ago that got one. So far the bump is hard and scaly. I'm going to working on it today with what you suggested.
