I read your other thread and have to agree, Gansett is a lucky dog.

But, I did read the other thread and want to comment. Gansett looks miserable in the photo above, and kind of scared. Many, if not most, dogs do not like to be hugged and certainly not by strangers. If you just met him, or recently in the photo above, that close hug is probably making him very uncomfortable. Maybe, in an extreme case, not safe for you. Along with the time advised in the other thread, also give him some space. Let him come to you and show you when he is ready for hugs. Sorry, if not very welcoming sounding, but meant to be helpful.

    YES!
Please do not forget that in dog language, a hug is basically f u!
He is also at an age that could be a fear period. Take it slow.

Congrats , he is very calm . You got lucky he is so young too.
I would let him get comfortable before a hug. Its a very vulnerable position for a dog to let someone hover over them . let him bond and trust before that

my dog lets only me , my wife and our 2 kids hug her. She lets only maybe 10 people pet her max. he does not like strangers petting her either. She is not aggresive or mean but will ignore and slip away. She even lets maybe our immediate family give her a belley rub .no one else. she has been with us from 8 weeks.
