This picture doesn't tell the story...

Last Wednesday I was back at agility as I decided to re-start it (call me crazy!) and my instructor gushed over how agile, flexible and light on his feet Linus is, especially for a big dog. I think it went to his head...

On Thursday I was packing up baggies of dog food for my trip and Linus was interested in what I was doing so I started playing with him from the counter. At one point I sort of patted the counter at the edge as I was "bopping" his nose, and Linus thought I was cuing him to jump up. He literally went from a stand still to all fours on the counter. No struggle, no backing up to take off (there is no space for him to do that), no climbing. Just one second he's four on the floor and the next second he is four on the counter.

I wouldn't believe it unless I saw it myself and I was right there at the stove. He's never stolen anything from the counter despite being out of his crate since he was nine months old and my counters are wood so if he was jumping on and off the counter when I'm not home, I'd have seen toe nail marks or at least excessive amounts of yellow Lab hair, and something would have been eaten at some point.

As you can see from his face, he reacted before thinking when he jumped up there and by the time he was up there, he was wondering what in the heck just happened!

LOL! What a good boy doing what you asked of him.

He does look a little puzzled.

LOL Let's hope he doesn't try that on the "walk It" or the "frame" when you do get to agility.

Yeah, now that he know what to do you better watch out!

Thor did that in a bout of the crazies at the vet one time - I was struggling to keep him in a sit next to me while i checked out and paid (he was about 8 months old and in the a$$hole teenager stage) and he went from the sit to all four on the vet's checkout table before I even noticed. His goal was the treat jar. Which he knocked all over the floor to the joy of the other waiting dogs.
