    Dog Beach in the Fall

    -capture-jpg

The weather's been good enough for me to take Boomer to the dog beach almost every day (seems like) for the last month, but I somehow still missed seeing the Canadian geese flying their v-formations overhead. Usually you can see them and know that winter is coming (which reminds me, it's time to get new snow tires ).

Definitely feeling distracted these days. Thus, I offer you this:

Last week, he started to stay in the water upon return, so now I have him come to my left to sit and wait until I throw the ball again.

    He's a good boy.

Is the water still warm? Not that I worry about a bit of cold.

Depending where you are, look into All Weather Tires. Not as good as a dedicated snow tire but better than an All Season Tire and you can leave them on all year. If you are in Quebec, they DO have the mountain and snowflake on the side wall and will count as a snow for Quebec laws. OH and I have run on All Seasons only (and we are surrounded by ski resorts) for decades, winter and summer, but he needs new tires and is going to get some of these. One big advantage, if they suit your driving needs, is they are always on. No worries about when to switch them on or off the vehicle.

Sorry for the highjack but so many people still don't know about them. You will find tire salespeople who don't know about them. Or they pretend if they don't happen to sell them.

The great thing about the extended swim season is that on weekdays we always have the beach to ourselves! The water was unusually warm this summer. Vet clinic said a number of dogs that swam there had come in with skin issues so I stopped the swimming in August. The air quality was bad too due to the wildfires. Could barely see the shoreline, mountains were obscured, air smelt like a campfire, not in a good way.

So water's not as cold as it should be. More like late spring/early summer.

It's not a hijacked thread, Snowshoe, not when you're giving good info. Thanks! I'll definitely look into it. The mountain passes require winter tires & chains, so I'll see what the rules here say about all weather.
