    Fall Back??

Evidently, Brooks is NOT a fan of the whole fall back thing. He hopped up on his place board (I always send him there before he eats) at 7:10pm this evening. Yes, this would have been dinner time yesterday, 8 pm being normal feeding time.

Sorry buddy, you got another hour to get on schedule!

    Aww crap!

Mommy is in the kitchen, maybe she will take pity on my empty tummy!

Note: No dogs starved to death as a result of the falling back!

Poor boy. Does he always go there without being asked? Or do you send him? If you do usually send him then I think for him to go voluntarily is clear evidence dogs do think.

Here too. All the critters allowed us to sleep in but at suppertime they were mightily confused and put out. Right now Oban thinks it is 9:00 instead of 8:00 and he's pestering me for his kefir.

To my surprise, Kimber bugged for me only 10 minutes and then took a nap until new dinner time.

He will go there if he thinks it's feeding time, but that is pretty infrequent. Usually I get up from my chair and say "Brooks, Place" and he can't get there fast enough. For the past couple months, I've been working on his "Hold" command in conjunction with his waiting for his supper. I'll give him a variety of things to hold while I'm getting supper ready. Think bumpers, paint rollers, obedience dumbells, Dokkens. He's pretty motivated to hold when dinner is involved!

    Good, Brooks!

(I always "slide" the feedings a bit the day before a change takes place...the timing seems to be more noticeable to "empty tummy" dogs with the Fall change.)

Poor Brooks! I can almost see the weight dropping off. What a good pup.

    Poor Brooks, he’s wasting away!

We ran out for some errands today and got home at 5:10. Thor’s normal dinner is 5 pm and by the way he greeted us at the door you would think we’d been gone a week. Not a fan of the time change!!

Love it! Samson went to his spot too but I asked him to lay down on his bed. He layed there and stared at me with the faintest little whines. Asher didn't seem to mind. I caved on Samson. I let them eat 30 minutes early, or as Samson was clearly protesting, 30 minutes late. I'm weak! lol

Who says dogs can't tell time!!!!! Maybe they can read the clock. I noticed Gabe looking around at the clock in the kitchen, then did a head tilt and looked at me as if to say 'Hey, look what time it is!!!!'.
