    Trip to Charlottesville, VA

My son goes to school at The University of Virginia. He is staying there this summer taking a class and working as a research assistant for one of his professors. He also volunteers on the weekend as an EMT at the rescue squad. While I'm happy he so focused for a 20 year old kid, I sure do miss him. Since he's so busy, we decided to pack up Sam and head on down for a visit. We absolutely love Charlottesville. It's a very dog friendly city. Everywhere we went that had a patio, allowed dogs on the patio. The weather turned absolutely beautiful after Hurricane Arthur blew past the East Coast so we had no problem sitting outside. We took a nice long walk the day we arrived and Sam found a giant fire hydrant!

We also found an awesome dog park at Chris Green Lake Park. It has a fenced in dog area right on the lake. It's nestled in the trees and was so much fun. Sam went to the vet before we left on our trip for a bad ear. I asked the vet if he could swim and she said it was fine. She told us to just dry his ears and use the ear cleaner she gave us. I'm sure she had no idea that Sam would swim for three hours straight. We threw the bumper until our arms were ready to fall off!

Our hotel was located on the edge of grounds so we took some nice walks through the picturesque campus. College kids love seeing dogs so Sam was quite the hit! We always walk with a ball so he had quite a few retrieves down the lawn with kids who missed their dogs and wanted to play. Here's one last picture of my son with his puppy brother!

Sounds like your son is really in tune. I like to hear about kids like that. That sounds like a nice trip even if it didn't have the added bonus of visiting your son. And Sam must have just loved it.
