Aye Mates,
I had the Dynamic Duo o' Barry & Brooks up for a few days o' training this past week. Lot's o' fun and work combined, TEAM BROOKS made some well earned gains and should be hitting the AKC hunt test games for their debut sometime in June. Time for these two cowboys to get on the horse and ride. I look forward to watching their new skills gained put into action.
Cheers,
THE DOG WHISTLER 🍀🇮🇪🇺🇸

Barry, have you always had a beard? For some reason I was surprised to see it here. You and Brooks look like you're ready for anything!

I generally grow a beard in the winter, helps keep the face warm and I'm outdoors a lot with the dogs. I shaved it off back in late February before we went to Hawaii. Hard to wear a snorkel mask with hair on your face! I'll probably shave it off for the summer in the next week or so.
Brooks has come a long way since we visited IRISHWHISTLER last September. Mike had identified a long list of issues and sent us home with a plan to fix them. Brooks and I worked hard over the winter and it really shows in his work. I was still struggling with Brooks HOLD, and that was my main concern to be worked on during this visit. Mike did 4 or 5 hold sessions, working Brooks on the table and on the ground and he made a lot of progress with correcting this issue. We also got to work live flyers with Chukars during our visit. Brooks did very well with this, he did several very nice retrieves of a live chukar from some pretty deep cover.
I can't say Brooks is ready for everything, but he is well on his way to being a very competent gundog.
This is awesome go team Brooks

Oh, yeah. I think you'll find AKC Junior will be a snap. (I don't know much about HRC.) While you're working on that title, you will continue to work on the fundamentals you'll need at the next level, about 65-70% of it just building on what you and Brooks do in the ring. Add stopping on a whistle and handling and you are almost there.
