Our winter vacation in the mountains

Cookie and I went to the mountains for the holidays to enjoy some peace and quiet for New Year's Eve and also to do some hiking.

Well, it was fun! We visited all the places I planned to (except for one, a view up from the mountain, but it was foggy and snowing that day so we'd probably see nothing).

Cookie loved it. He was a really happy pup up there, and his leg wasn't bothering him at all so we had a great time.

The mountain's name is Tara and it's in Western Serbia, so if you love hiking and you decide to visit Serbia, Tara is definitely the place to go!

The house on the Drina river

    Perucac lake

    Vrelo springs in Perucac

    Zaovine Lake

    Mitrovac (resort)

Visegrad (in Bosnia) we visited with friends. Cookie even rode on a boat on the Drina river! Well, he slept most of the time and didn't seem to care for the historical monuments.

Drvengrad is a traditional village built for Kusturica's movie "Life is a Miracle". It was cute.

A very interesting hike to a spring near the Raca river. It was described as "easy hiking trail", however, it was everything BUT! The markings were bad, and there was a spot with slippery mud I had a hard time climbing up. Also, fell on a slippery wooden bridge and lost my way into sinking mud where I lost my boots. Had to walk two miles in socks. But it was fun, lol!

    Kaludjerske bare (resort)

And we stopped at Zlatibor (mountain) on our way back home.

What a great way for me to start my morning...thank you for sharing your vacation. Except for the two mile hike in socks, it sounds/looks like you both had a wonderful time. You really do give Cookie a marvelous life!

Beautiful! I doubt I'll ever make it to Serbia but if I do this place looks right up my alley! And Cookie makes a perfect model, as always.
