    Team MAC Titles - Reset

    Aye Mates,
Many members of this board have supportively watched and shared in the training concepts I have utilized with my young yellow Labrador gun dog trainee MAC for just a bit over the last year. My intentions for MAC have always been for him to b e trained as a Hunt test K9 athlete as well as a gun dog that is cross trained to hunt both waterfowl and upland birds.

MAC'S first runs at the hunt test game were on May 4th and 5th during double HRC Started Hunting Retriever stakes hosted by the Long Island Retriever Field Trial Club, MAC having passed both of his first two qualifying stakes. This past weekend, MAC consecutively passed his third and fourth qualifying legs toward earning the title of Started Hunting Retriever (SHR) at a double HRC Licensed Hunt Test event hosted by the Yankee Waterfowler's Hunting Retriever Club our home club. So MAC'S official registered name is now SHR LAKE CHAFFEE'S AUTUMN LEGACY O' TRAD FINIAN MAC. I must say I was most happy to watch MAC running well above the expected standard in that he was steady at the line and returned to make completed classic delivery to hand on both land and water marks.

Our objective for MAC to successfully run his first four hunt tests with consecutive pains / qualifying scores have been met. Our objectives have been reset and we continue to train toward the development of HRC Hunting Retriever and AKC Senior Hunter level concepts as we continue to campaign MAC toward earning his AKC Junior Hunter Title (JH). MAC has been registered for three AKC Junior Hunter Stakes and we hope to see him go four for four with him passing once again at our home club at the YWHRC AKC Hunt Test to be held by YWHRC in August of 2019. We also have our sights focused on running MAC in some Upland Hunter stakes as those opportunities present themselves.

We still have much to work on this summer in preparing MAC toward becoming that which I consider to be a gun dog having reached a standard of proficient competency, that to be determined whilst hunting afield in the coming season. MAC did distinguish himself whilst hunting upland birds throughout his rookie season afield in 2018, but he still has much to learn.

Team MAC is being honed toward the razor sharp edge that we one day hope to achieve and we are thoroughly enjoying each step of that journey. I will update as we continue toward these objectives with MAC.

Our thanks to all that have joined us in following our progress and to the folks that have actually physically joined us during the training process for MAC. We are truly blessed with many grand friends throughout the hunting retriever community and with abundant and beautiful training grounds upon which to train. We recognize that there are many that support our efforts and we are thankful to all in that regard.

    Cheers,
    THE DOG WHISTLER ☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸

Great work to you both, MAC and Mike! I know you dedicate a lot of time and training to get him to this point and it's great to see the effort rewarded! Onward, Team MAC, to tales of further glory!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Great work. It is so nice when you can watch them turn on. Im pretty sure you know what I mean. I am passionate about training service dogs but learnt that passion is not the same with civilian dogs.
