Wow, what a fun time for Sam!!

What booties do you use, and how are they working out for you? We're spending 9 days camping in the desert over Thanksgiving and I worry about the wear to Thor's paws. He's 10 months old and while we've taken him on plenty of short hikes and camping trips, we haven't had him out for an extended time like that. I was thinking about trying out some booties in case the desert rock and sand gets to be too much for him.

These are by Ruffwear and have worked well previously. This time he had trouble with them rubbing on his dew claws and they caused more harm than good so I took them off. I have also used Muttluks with great success. My biggest problem is that boots tend to strap over the dew claw when they need to strap higher. I don't know why he had trouble with the Ruffwear boots this time, he has not in the past. I had the Muttluks with us also so he was still shoe'd.

The boots protect the pads for dogs not accustomed to rough, rocky surfaces. They also protect the toes from burs and cactus spines.
