Yeah, yeah, I know it's supposed to be throwback Thursday, but hey I'm a rebel and I do what I want!!!
DW has been talking about buying a scanner and getting all the photos backed up on disk. I kept telling her our printer was also a scanner, so I got it all set up with my laptop and showed her how it works. She was very impressed.
I was going through our picture albums a few weeks a go, looking for a picture a friend of mine had asked me about. While I didn't find that picture, I did take a wonderful trip down memory lane and it gave me an idea after the recent post of "how do you get into labs".
So for the next however long it takes, or when ya'll get tired of looking, I'm going to do a "my life with Labs" posting. My goal is to post pictures from the past and the stories behind them.
After looking through the old albums I came to the conclusion that we are so spoiled now being able to shoot digital. You can shoot hundreds of pictures basically for free, and you can see the results immediately. Way back in the day you had to buy film, 24 or 36 exposures. You shot it, then sent it off and a week or so later it came back, you paid for it, then got to see if it was good or bad. A roll of film plus processing was about $15, back when $15 was actually worth something!!!
So anyway here is my first picture.
This is Clancy. He was my 3rd Lab. I had lost my second Lab, a yellow girl named Dusty to a brain tumor when she was 2 years old. I was devastated when I had to euthanize her. She had been doing very well in the show ring, and was a Cruft's qualifier. I knew I wanted a dog I could show, so my friends referred me to a breeder who had a bitch from them, and had bred a litter. I picked my pup from the litter when they were six weeks old, and we picked Clancy up when he was 8 weeks old, back in 1987. I had wanted to name him Goose, but everyone, including my DW protested. So I named him Clancy, as I had been reading Tom Clancy's first few novels, and was a great fan.
This picture was taken in 1989, shortly after we had moved from the UK to New Mexico, thanks to the USAF. He did actually have tail, but as we all know, their tales are in constant motion!!!
Let me know what you think about this project, and if you're interested in seeing and hearing more. I don't want to bore everyone to death with this.

Clancy is beautiful. I always chuckle about the missing tail pictures.
Love seeing pictures and hearing their stories.

Keep your project going. It's a great way to capture and share memories, and who doesn't like to look at pictures.
