    I would just tell them that Chopper has become so attached to Russell is there anyway you could keep him if indeed they do want him back. Russell is a beautiful pup I hope he gets to stay with you.

    In the mean time take him to the vet have him microchipped in your name, pay county dog taxes for him and add his face to your family Christmas greeting card one of which you send to his previous owners, possession is 9/10's the law. LOL
