Wow your Lilly has been a busy girl and only two years old! What is going to happen to the puppies? Will you ask a shelter to take some or will you give them to good homes? It's wonderful you have taken them in all! I am sure Lilly will love you more for it! I hope you get her fixed a.s.a.p. Hopefully you have some help at your home to take care of them all.

Oh wow! Thank you for rescuing. Boy, do you have your work cut out for you!

If I were you, I'd ask a Lab rescue to help with placements. You may even be able to turn them over to the rescue and foster them. That way, they can pay for vet care and be reimbursed through the adoption fees, but also, you'll have a whole team with experience to help you pre-screen, homecheck and reference check potential new owners, plus a contract in place with spay and neuter policies. Something to consider!

      Good luck!

Poor Lily she is really still just a baby herself and having such a large litter, thankfully her last. She and her babies are very lucky little girl to have found you and yes I second finding a reputable rescue to help with the adoptions of the puppies.

Thank you for taking in Lily and her babies! Best of luck with all the fun coming your way. The suggestion of help/resources of a Lab rescue is a really great idea.

Thank you, Yes, I do. I'm familiar with puppy work (well, not on a scale of 12!) but I do have a friend who breeds GSD's and has been a lovely resource for me! Pups are 3.5 weeks old and doing great! 2 runts were only 5.2 ounces at birth... have been bottle feeding from the start and one you wouldn't know was ever smaller than the rest. The other is still the runt, she is a beautiful girl with large ears! Oh, I'm in love with them all! Just moved them to a larger set up to start potty training. They are loving the extra couple of meals a day I started with the mush. Mama loves the new set up too. So far, so good. No worries on worming or socialization, those I can handle without issue. Puppies are happy and healthy. We are blessed!

I have considered this as well. There is a wonderful rescue near me that I will likely be contacting in the coming weeks.

This is the busiest time of the year for me at work and talk about the stress of adding a dozen to the workload! Honestly, it has been the greatest blessing. It has really initiated the bonding between Lily and myself, as I was having a difficult time after losing my last girl. I have hand selected a few homes, and will continue to do so discreetly for people I know that will be able to provide excellent homes. There is a nearby rescue and a wonderful humane society that I am certain will assist with the remaining ones I cannot place. You can bet there will be no CL or FB sales for my pups.

Ah yes....it'll be seven years ago next month that Sunnie's surprise litter was born. We'd had her all of three weeks. My 52 lb. spayed PetFinder female was 42 lbs. and pregnant.

She went through three vet exams before her scheduled spay (a week after we got her) and it was during that last one that I forced the issue regarding "oh, she's had a litter of puppies"...and asked for a sonogram. She was too obvious in that pregnancy for it to have been her first, that's for sure.

So we had five. Four of them were really houndy...long ears, short coats, blocky muzzles...and then there was Dan. Fuzzy, snipey-faced, short ears...and pick of the litter for so many reasons.

Congratulations on your new family. I love the pictures...I, too, am a fan of the kitty!
